Our piano movers handle upright and digital pianos across London with a two-person crew, proper straps and padding, and the experience to get an instrument down a hallway, around a tight turn and out to the van without damage to the piano, the floor or the doorframes.
We move pianos between homes, deliver newly bought instruments from dealers and private sellers, and shift them for room changes, renovations and clearances. Every piano is padded and strapped for transit and secured in the van so it cannot move, and our crew plan the route through your property before they lift. Do bear in mind that we move pianos safely from A to B but do not tune them — book a tuner once the instrument has settled in its new home.

An upright on the ground floor at both ends is the cheap version of this job. Stairs, a turn at the top, or a doorway you have to angle through is what adds time.
How it works
Tell us the instrument
Upright, digital or grand, and roughly how old. A Victorian overstrung upright can weigh well over 200kg, which is a different job from a modern digital piano.
Send the access
Photos of the doorway, the stairs and the turn at the top, at both ends. This is the part that decides whether the job takes ninety minutes or half a day.

We come back with a price that does not move, and a slot. If we think the piano does not suit our service, we say so then rather than on the day.

What actually decides a piano move
Almost every piano that gets damaged in a move is damaged in a doorway or on a staircase, not on the road. The weight is not spread evenly — an upright carries most of its mass at the back, around the frame and the strings — so it behaves differently from a wardrobe of the same size, and it does not forgive being tipped to get round a corner.
That is why we ask for photographs of the route rather than just the postcode. Knowing there is a half-landing with a 90-degree turn changes the crew, the equipment and the time we book. Finding it out on the day is what turns a fixed price into an argument, and we would rather not have that conversation with you.
- The type. Uprights and digital pianos are our normal work. Full-size grands need the legs and pedal lyre removed and a board — tell us and we will advise honestly whether we are the right firm.
- The stairs. Number of steps, whether there is a turn, and whether the handrail can come off. A straight flight is far easier than six steps with a bend.
- The doorways. Measure the narrowest one. An upright is usually around 150cm wide and 60cm deep, and that depth is what catches on a door frame.
- The floor at the far end. Carpet, boards or tile changes how we set it down and where it can safely rest.
- Parking. How close we can get the van. Fifteen metres of pavement with a kerb is a meaningful part of a piano move.
- Tuning. We move pianos, we do not tune them. Book a tuner a couple of weeks after the move, once the instrument has settled.

How much does a piano weigh?
A modern upright is usually 180-250kg and an older overstrung one can be more. A digital piano is often under 60kg. The weight is why the job runs on the two-mover rate rather than the single-mover one.
Do I need to do anything to prepare the piano?
Close and secure the lid, take off anything sitting on top, and clear the route at both ends — including moving the car if it is blocking the closest parking. We bring the straps and padding.
Can you move a piano into a flat with no lift?
Usually yes, up to a point. Tell us the floor and send a photo of the staircase; above the second floor with a tight turn we will tell you honestly if it is not a two-person job.
What happens if the piano will not fit?
We work that out from your photos before we book, which is the whole point of asking for them. If the route genuinely will not take it, we say so before you have paid anything.
