Storage help and moving support
Moves do not always line up neatly — a completion date slips, you are downsizing, or there is a gap between leaving one home and getting into the next. Our storage support service helps bridge those gaps: we move your belongings into storage, out of storage, and between units, doing the heavy lifting and transport so a self-storage move is not something you have to tackle with a car and a friend over several exhausting trips.
We collect from your home, load carefully, and deliver into a storage unit — or the reverse when you are ready to move back out — and we can shift items between units or facilities if you are consolidating or upgrading. A two-person crew and a Luton van mean the job is done in a fraction of the trips and none of the strain. We blanket-wrap furniture for the store just as we would for a move, so it comes out in the same condition it went in.
We cover every London borough and the surrounding areas, work with any self-storage facility, and fully insure the transport. Note that we provide the moving muscle and transport; the storage unit itself is rented from your chosen facility.
What our storage support covers
- Moving belongings into and out of self-storage
- Shifting items between units or facilities
- Two-person crew and Luton van — fewer trips, no strain
- Blanket-wrapping so furniture stores and returns unmarked
- Works with any self-storage facility across London
- Confirm insurance transport (unit rented from your facility)
Pricing: Storage moves are charged on our man and van rate from £65/hr, or from £95/hr with two movers for heavier loads. Fixed quote agreed before we start.
Storage Solutions prices
Storage moves run on the hourly rate. The unit itself is rented from the storage company — we do the moving part.
One mover driving. Fine when you can take one end of the sofa.
For heavy items, stairs, and anything you should not be lifting.
The smallest job we book, the same across the whole site.
Confirmed from your photos, or on the day before anything moves.
We are not a storage company and we do not resell units. That means we have no reason to talk you into a bigger one than you need.
How it works
Tell us the site
Which facility and which floor. Access rules and trolley availability vary enormously between them.
Check their hours
Many sites close access at 5 or 6pm and some are closed on Sundays. The gate closing mid-load is a real problem.
Fixed price and slot
Confirmed before the day, with the crew sized for the carry from the loading bay to the unit.
Loaded in properly
Packed so the things you will want first are at the front, not buried at the back behind the sofa.
Packing a storage unit so you can get back into it
The mistake almost everyone makes is filling a unit from the back wall to the door in the order the van was unloaded. Six weeks later the box you need is behind a wardrobe and a sofa, and retrieving it means emptying the unit into the corridor. Leaving a narrow walkway down one side costs a little space and saves an entire afternoon.
The other thing worth knowing is what storage does to furniture over time. Unheated units go through real temperature swings, so anything sealed in plastic sweats and mattresses and upholstery can come out damp. Cover with breathable sheets rather than plastic, stand mattresses on edge against a wall rather than flat on the floor, and keep everything off bare concrete on a pallet or a couple of battens.
- Leave a walkway. One clear route from the door to the back wall. It costs a little space and saves an entire unpack.
- Label towards the aisle. Boxes turned so you can read them from the walkway. Obvious, and almost nobody does it.
- Breathable covers. Sheets and blankets rather than sealed plastic — plastic traps moisture against fabric.
- Mattresses on edge. Standing against a wall, not flat on the floor where they take the weight of everything stacked on top.
- Off the floor. Pallets or battens under anything you care about. Concrete floors get damp.
- Check the access hours. Many facilities lock the gates at 5 or 6pm. A load that overruns can leave your belongings on the wrong side of it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you provide the storage unit?
We provide the moving and transport; the unit itself is rented from your chosen self-storage facility. We work with any of them across London.
Can you move my things into storage and back out later?
Yes. We handle both directions — into storage now, and back out to your new home whenever you are ready.
Can you move items between storage units?
Yes. If you are consolidating or upgrading units, we can shift belongings between units or facilities.
How is it priced?
On our man and van rate from £65 per hour, based on the volume and access. We agree a fixed quote first.
Will my furniture be protected in storage?
Ask us for the current insurance certificate, cover limits and exclusions that apply to your job before you book.
Can you help me pack before putting things into storage?
Yes. We can bring boxes and materials and pack your belongings before they go into storage, so everything is protected for the store — ask about our packing service.
Do you provide the storage unit?
No — you rent that from the facility and we handle the moving. It also means we have no incentive to talk you into a larger unit than you actually need.
What size unit will I need?
As a rough guide, a one-bed flat usually fits in 50-75 sq ft and a two-bed in 100-125. Send photos of the rooms and we will give you an honest opinion before you sign anything.
Can you collect from storage as well as deliver to it?
Yes, in both directions, and it is the same hourly rate. Tell us the unit number and access details and we will handle the site's process.
How should I pack things for long-term storage?
Breathable covers rather than plastic, everything off the bare floor, mattresses on edge, and a walkway left down one side so you can reach the back without unloading the whole unit.
