Fragile item moving and delivery

Some things simply cannot be thrown in with everything else: glassware and china, mirrors and glazed pictures, lamps and ceramics, electronics and delicate ornaments. Our fragile item service moves exactly these — wrapped individually, cushioned and packed so they do not touch or knock, and handled by a two-person crew who take the time to get delicate things from A to B intact.

We can supply bubble wrap, packing paper and boxes, wrap and pad each item, and load fragile boxes so nothing heavy sits on top and nothing slides in transit. Whether it is a single mirror or a whole kitchen's worth of glass and china as part of a move, we treat the breakables as their own careful job rather than an afterthought at the bottom of the van. If you would like us to do the packing as well as the moving, just ask.

We cover every London borough and the surrounding areas, keep same-day and next-day slots open, and fully insure every job.

How it works

1

Photograph the item

All sides, plus any existing damage. That last part protects both of us and takes thirty seconds.

2

Say if it is already packed

Properly boxed changes the job completely. If it is not, tell us and we will bring materials.

3

Fixed price and slot

Agreed before we collect, including packing time if we are doing that part.

4

Packed, carried, unloaded last

Wrapped, boxed where needed, secured so nothing can shift, and off the van first rather than under everything else.

Fragile items break from vibration, not just drops

People picture a fragile item breaking because somebody dropped it. In practice more damage comes from hours of road vibration against a hard surface, or from an item being packed tightly enough that it cannot move at all and the pressure does the work instead. Glass and ceramics want to be suspended in something soft, with space around them, and secured so the box itself cannot slide.

The other reliable cause is stacking. Anything fragile goes on top and comes off first — never underneath a load that will settle onto it over an hour of driving. That is a loading decision rather than a packing one, which is why it is worth telling us what is fragile before we arrive rather than writing it on the box.

  • Glass and mirrors. Travel on edge, never flat, and are corner-protected. Flat glass in a moving van flexes and flexed glass cracks.
  • Ceramics and china. Wrapped individually with space between pieces. Plates on edge like records, not stacked like plates.
  • Electronics and screens. Original packaging if you still have it. If not, tell us and we will bring something appropriate.
  • Marble and stone tops. Extremely heavy and they snap across the middle if carried flat. These go on edge, with two people.
  • Photograph before we collect. Existing chips and scratches recorded up front, so there is no argument about what happened when.
  • Insurance. Ask for the current certificate, limits and exclusions before booking. Standard goods-in-transit cover often excludes high-value items.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you supply packing materials for fragile things? expand_more

Yes. We can bring bubble wrap, packing paper, tape and boxes, and can do the packing for you if you would like — just ask when you book.

How do you stop fragile items breaking in transit? expand_more

We wrap each item individually, cushion and box them so nothing touches, and load fragile boxes so nothing heavy sits on top and nothing slides.

Can you move a single mirror or large glass piece? expand_more

Yes. A single mirror or glazed piece gets individual wrapping and careful two-person handling.

How much does it cost? expand_more

Quoted from your photos — every job is different. Tell us what needs moving and we will confirm a fixed price.

Are fragile items insured? expand_more

Ask us for the current insurance certificate, cover limits and exclusions that apply to your job before you book.

Can you move a single large mirror or glass tabletop? expand_more

Yes. Large mirrors and glass tops get individual wrapping, corner protection and careful two-person handling, carried flat or upright as needed and secured so nothing shifts.

Do you supply packing materials? expand_more

Yes, if you tell us in advance so they are on the van. Bubble wrap, boxes and blankets — the price is agreed with the quote rather than added afterwards.

Can you move a marble or glass table top? expand_more

Yes. It travels on edge in a padded frame, never flat, and it is a two-person carry. Send the dimensions and we will price it properly.

What if something arrives damaged? expand_more

Tell us straight away and we will deal with it honestly. This is also why we photograph items before loading — it makes it clear what was already there.

Is my item insured while you have it? expand_more

Ask us to confirm the current certificate, the cover limits and the exclusions that apply to your specific items before you book. Some categories are excluded from standard transit cover.
